Updates on RESIST!
We thank you all for your patience and time!
Hi everyone!
I know it has been quite a while since we last posted. I want to emphasize that we’ve been taking our time with this first issue, because we want to give readers and the artists featured a QUALITY representation of Black queer resistance. We also want to stay true to the punk ethics of our collective in creating this zine, which involves DIYing. Doing it yourself is achievable, but it requires patience.
We are 100% in charge of the creation process thus far, and that means that our production time may be a bit slower than a traditional literary mag. With this being our first community based zine, we want to thank you all for trusting us and supporting our vision of resistance.
With that being said, I am so excited to share a few updates on our zine with you all.
Graphic Design
Our graphic design process will involve mixed media!
Which means, we will be using photo copies of craft paper and other materials to use as background images + compliment the literary texts
We will also be using illustrations drawn on paper, digital art, free to use images, and clip art!
Why mixed media?
Mixed media creates a really unique outcome which we’ve found gives us a “traditional zine” look while still preserving it digitally! In our experience it’s been way more fun & personal to use images we’ve taken ourselves in the creation process rather than solely using paper textures from Pinterest or Canva!

Where Will the Zine Be Published?
HeyZine will be the platform we expect to use for our first issue!
It’s free to use, user friendly, and accessible!
Once the zine is ready to publish, we all include a link to HeyZine on a Substack post here so that you all can read! :)
Will there be a print issue?
We would love to do a print edition of this issue, but we would need to raise funds in order to achieve this goal. We are still investigating how this process would look like for us and how to do it in a punk way!
How much will the zine cost?
This zine will be free since it is digital, but we would love to take donations in order to sustain ourselves!
When Will the Zine Be Published?
We’ve anticipated the zine being ready by the Winter season, but we want to take our time to ensure that the zine will be the best quality possible. For this reason, we anticipate the release date may take longer for us to finalize. We thank you all so much for your patience and support during this time!
